If you want to provide shade for a seating area in Brandenburg an der Havel, the conditions are often different than in a cramped city courtyard: larger gardens, freestanding terraces, open property boundaries, and sometimes exposed locations. This allows for creative freedom, but also requires honest planning regarding wind, posts, tension paths, and sail size.
Our UNICOVR shade sails are made to your exact measurements. You can plan a compact shaded zone over your dining table or several coordinated sails for a larger terrace. In many cases, several manageable sections are more practical than an oversized sail that exerts high forces on just a few anchor points.

Properly planning shade sails in Brandenburg an der Havel
- Which area should be shaded at what time? The shade in the morning is not where it will be in the late afternoon.
- Where can forces be anchored? A downspout, railing, or light privacy screen is not automatically a suitable anchor point.
- Should rain be kept out? The choice of material—and the necessary slope for waterproof sails—depends on this.
- How will you react to high winds? Taking the sail down must be practically feasible and organizationally clarified.
Open location: consider the wind before installation
A tautly tensioned sail remains a large surface area for wind to catch. The larger the surface and the more exposed the location, the more important sturdy components, suitable connections, and professional dimensioning become. Custom textile production does not replace a structural assessment of the anchoring. For unclear substrates, new masts, or foundations, appropriate professionals should be consulted.
Practical tips on gusts, sail size, and timely removal can be found in our article Handling shade sails in wind and storms.
Being near water doesn't automatically mean "waterproof"
For a terrace near water, an air-permeable HDPE sail can be pleasant because heat can escape upwards and rain seeps through. Those who want to eat outside or protect furniture from a shower often prefer coated polyester. This is waterproof but requires a defined low-drainage side. Without sufficient slope or if tension slackens, water can pool.
Configure custom shade sails directly
From initial measurements to equipment: in the configurator, you can see immediately which variant suits your area.
Our guide Planning slope and water drainage for shade sails explains how to intelligently plan different attachment heights.
Custom shade sails: rectangular, trapezoidal, and free-form
Not every terrace is at a right angle to the house. That is why the UNICOVR configurator offers rectangles, squares, various triangles, trapezoids, and free-form shapes. For free-form designs, all straight sides and diagonals are clearly measured. The more precisely the attachment situation is documented, the better we can check if the desired geometry is plausible.
Order without opaque bidding rounds
You do not have to wait for a general "price from" quote. After selecting the shape, you enter the dimensions and desired extras; the current price is calculated directly in the shop. For special cases or an optional installation inquiry, add photos, a sketch, your address, and information about the substrate. Installation depends on the project and is only confirmed after review.
Information regarding permits, property boundaries, or heritage protection requirements must always be clarified for the specific site. Our guide on potential permit requirements offers a starting point.
