Custom-made trailer tarp with wind deflector – a perfect fit with a clever front

The trailer is loaded, the route lies ahead – and the headwind hits the tarp structure directly at the high front side. This is exactly where our custom-made UNICOVR trailer tarp with wind deflector comes in: the front remains vertical but ends at a lower height. From there, a short front roof section rises toward the back to the full structural height before transitioning into the horizontal roof.

In this typical design, the front face is completely vertical and lower than the rest of the tarp structure. Across the entire width of the trailer, a short roof slope rising toward the back connects the front height H1 with the full height H2. Behind this, the roof runs horizontally to the rear. This design is also searched for as a trailer tarp with a front slope, high tarp with a slope, or tarp structure with a wind deflector.

The rectangular base and thus the length and width of the structure remain unchanged. For the custom production, we require the front height H1, the full height H2, as well as the length and width of your existing frame.

Less drag at the front, full storage space behind

The rising front roof section helps to guide the headwind more evenly over the high structure. Behind the wind deflector, the full height of the cargo area is available to you all the way to the rear. This is especially practical if you want to transport bulky tools, machinery, gardening equipment, furniture, or other cargo while keeping them protected from the weather.

A specific fuel saving cannot be assumed as a general rule, because it depends, among other things, on the vehicle, speed, trailer size, and the angle of inclination. The structural advantage lies in the more aerodynamic shape compared to a tarp structure of uniform height with a vertical front edge.

Waterproof high trailer tarp for rain, sun, and dirt

For the custom-made tarp, we use 100% polyester with approx. 200 g/m² and a triple PU coating. The material is waterproof, UV-resistant, tear-resistant, and flexible enough to ensure the tarp can be easily pulled over and fastened.

Measuring for the wind deflector tarp correctly

Always measure the external dimensions of the existing tarp frame. The dimensions required from our sketch are: length, width, front height H1, and full height H2. H1 is measured on the vertical front side from the bottom edge of the tarp to its front top edge. H2 is measured where the rising roof section reaches its full height and transitions into the horizontal roof. The length and width of the rectangular base do not change due to the wind deflector. Check every value at several points so that the trailer tarp can be tensioned evenly later.

For individual, asymmetrical, or already modified structures, you can additionally send us a sketch or photos for verification. This custom production includes the tarp only. The frame or the tarp structure itself is not included and must already be present and sufficiently stable.

For single-axle, tandem, high-loader, and low-loader trailers

The high tarp with a wind deflector is suitable for numerous car trailers and special structures, including single-axle trailers, tandem trailers, box trailers, high-loaders, low-loaders, and commercially used transport trailers. Even older models and unusual dimensions can be accommodated if all required dimensions are clearly provided.
