A driveway is not a standard patio area. Vehicles change, tailgates open upwards, and a post can disappear while reversing exactly where you need it least. A custom shade sail can provide summer shade – provided the traffic area is planned first.

Fully account for vehicle height and garage door movement

Do not measure only your current car. Roof boxes, vans, bicycle racks, and open tailgates require clearance. Sectional, up-and-over, or swing gates need their entire range of motion. The lowest edge of the fabric and all connectors must remain above the safely established clearance height.

Position posts outside of sightlines and maneuvering paths

Mark the path actually driven from the curb to the parking spot. Posts do not belong in the turning point or close to the driver's door. Trash cans, bicycles, and the side passage to the front door are also part of daily use. A good plan works on a hectic Monday morning, not just on an empty pavement.

Seasonal shade instead of a permanent carport roof

HDPE offers airy sun protection and allows rain to pass through. Waterproof polyester (approx. 210 g/m²) requires a slope and a drainage side away from the traffic path. Both variants remain textile, removable shade solutions and do not replace a roof designed for snow, hail, and permanent loads.

  • Do not direct rainwater drainage into the driving lane or sidewalk
